(PowerKorea) Sancheong County has committed 3.4 billion won budget ($2.9 million) to renewal of agricultural infrastructure announced June 15. The county has suffered from frequent torrential rain, storm and prolonged monsoon and the renewal of the drainages and farm waterways are to prevent the damages in advance. A total of 73 projects have been done so far around Pyeongchon village, Sichon area, Dansung area and Sangcho Pyeongchon area.
Sancheong endeavors to prevent inflow of fire blight
Sancheong County joined hands with local fruit farmers to prevent inflow of fire blight. For this, the Sancheong Agricultural Technology Center held a meeting with heads of fruit farmers announced on June 24. Fire blight is a disease to make the branches, flowers and fruits like they are on fire and die in black. There is no cure for the disease yet and the infected trees must be cut down. The damages have commonly occurred in Gyeonggi, Chungcheong and North Gyeongbuk and it moves down gradually. 124 fruit farm houses in the county are to be prepared with counter measures in cooperation with the center. An official of the country said that the prevention would be to spray appropriate drugs in accordance with the time and the farmers who experienced symptoms of the disease were to immediately report to the center.
