A social enterprise that works with the community

After 25 years of listening to customers’ needs and driving a new coffee culture, Starbucks Korea is growing to be a social enterprise that customers trust, co-creating with the community for a sustainable future. Starbucks’ Win-Win program is a program where the company’s partners renovate aging small café facilities. In 2022, Starbucks helped two small cafés rebuild after water damage by repainting walls, renovating interiors, and installing floorboards to prevent recurrent flooding.

 

Creating quality jobs for seniors

Starbucks introduced the Woori Mugwort Grain Latte, made with locally sourced mugwort and grains, to more than 150 cafes operated by the Korea Senior Club Association. Starbucks shared how to make the drink and provided all of the senior cafes with shakers, measuring spoons, and other equipment needed to make the drink. In September 2019, Starbucks opened the Starbucks Win-Win Training Center at the Gunpo Senior Club, a specialized training center for senior baristas for more than 500 senior cafes nationwide. By 2023, a total of 1,290 senior baristas completed barista training through the Win-Win Training Center.
