Yoon attends Cyber Summit Korea 2024

President Yoon attended the Cyber Summit Korea 2024 held at COEX on September 11. The event was co-hosted by the National Intelligence Service and the National Security Research Institute, and under the theme of “AI, Quantum, and Space Age, Advancing Efforts for Global Cybersecurity,” discussions took place on various cybersecurity issues, including ways for the international community to cooperate against cyber threats. In his remarks, he noted that cyberspace has become the core infrastructure of nations in the age of the digital revolution, and as the benefits grow, so do the challenges and threats. Hacking organizations and cybercriminals, including those behind totalitarian states, are exploiting advanced cyber technologies to launch more diverse and sophisticated attacks, noting that a catastrophic cyberattack on critical infrastructure could significantly jeopardize national security and even the safety of citizens. He observed the first South Korean-led international cyber exercise (APEX), which he personally promised at the NATO summit in Washington last July, and encouraged officials.

Yoon visits Woori Children’s Hospital

Yoon visited Woori Children’s Hospital on the occasion of the Thanks Giving holiday. He walked through the infusion room, clinical pathology, internal medicine, and X-ray rooms, encouraging the medical staff. The government has been continuously expanding pediatric medical support, including increasing the number of specialists and hospitalization fees for critically ill and emergency-related intensive care units, improving the number of emergency rooms for critically ill children, and compensating for night and late-night visits to pediatric hospitals and clinics. He said “It is our responsibility as a nation to ensure that children grow up bright and healthy. Pediatric healthcare, which is at the core of essential healthcare, must be given the support and investment it needs.” This is the third time the president has visited a children's hospital, after visiting Seoul National University Children's Hospital in February 2023 and Asan Medical Center Children's Hospital in March 2024. In particular, this is the first time he has visited a local children's hospital (secondary hospital) rather than a children's hospital within a large hospital.
