대전관저고등학교 최인화 교장

1998년 개교한 대전관저고등학교는 지난 17년 간 실력과 인성을 겸비한 우수 인재를 배출하는 데에 최선의 노력을 다해왔다. 특히 인성중심의 따뜻한 교육, 학생자치 역량의 강화, 다양한 교과활동을 통한 학력신장에 주력해 온 관저고등학교는 학생들이 자신의 꿈과 끼를 마음껏 발휘할 수 있는 교육환경을 통해 대전 서남부권의 명문 고등학교로 자리매김해왔다.

실천적 인성교육으로 따뜻한 감성을 기르다
대전관저고등학교는 ‘비전·사랑·행복을 가꾸는 교육공동체’를 만들어나가고자 학생과 교직원이 한 마음 한 뜻으로 노력하고 있다. 특히 미래에 대한 비전 확립과 준비, 학생 자신과 가족, 친구에 대한 사랑, 즐겁고 행복한 학교생활을 강조하고 있는 관저고등학교는 ‘가고 싶은 학교, 행복한 학교’의 이상을 실현하며 대전 지역의 교육문화 발전을 앞장서서 이끌어왔다.

최인화 교장은 “교사가 주도하는 인성교육보다는 학생들이 직접 체험하고 실천하는 인성교육을 통해 학생들이 직접 교육 효과를 체감할 수 있도록 돕고 있습니다”라고 밝혔다. 지난 4월부터 진행해온 ‘공감친구 캠페인’은 학생들 스스로 욕설과 폭력적 언어의 문제점을 인식하고, 긍정적 언어를 사용하는 공감의 문화를 장려하고자 마련된 것으로 ‘결심문장 발표’, ‘공감밴드 채워주기’, ‘학급 단위 실천내용’ 등의 세부적인 프로그램이 활성화되며 성공적인 성과를 창출하고 있다. 또한 학생회에서 주최하고, 학생들이 직접 참여하는 ‘우리의 으뜸 선생님’ 행사를 통해 갈수록 메말라가는 사제 간의 정을 드높이고 사랑이 넘치는 학교문화를 형성하는 데에 힘쓰고 있다. 그밖에도 관저고는 지역사회와 함께하고 더불어 사는 품성을 기르기 위해 학생 전체가 참여하는 ‘꽃동네 봉사활동’을 진행하고 있으며, 매 수업시간마다 인사예절, 언어예절, 인터넷 언어사용예절 등을 주제로 5분간 지도를 펼치는 등 학생들의 인성강화를 위해 노력하고 있다. 

스스로 성장하는 학생, 모두가 행복한 학교
관저고등학교가 여타의 고등학교와 차별화되는 점은 교내 다양한 행사와 규율 등을 학생들이 직접 참여하고 결정해나간다는 것이다. 대표적인 학생회 활동인 ‘학생자치법정’에서는 토론을 통해 학생 스스로 규칙을 정하고, 메니페스토를 제정해 실천해나가며, 교칙위반으로 벌점이 누적된 학생들이 스스로 어긋난 행동을 개선할 수 있도록 학생자치법정을 개정하고 있다. 최 교장은 “학생자치법정은 학생 누구나 지원할 수 있는 열린 제도입니다. 솔로몬 법파크 연수를 통해 효과적인 법정 운영을 체험할 수 있는 기회도 제공하고 있으며, 이를 바탕으로 학생들은 스스로의 문제를 해결하는 자주성과 책임감을 배양하고 있습니다”라고 전했다. 이러한 관저고의 학생자치법정은 ‘제2회 학생자치법정 우수사례 경연대회’에서 대전·세종지역 최우수상인 대전 검찰청 검사장상을 수상하기도 했다. 

관저고에서는 학생들이 다양한 교과활동을 통해 자신에게 적합한 진로를 찾고 꿈을 키워나갈 수 있도록 돕는 데에도 노력을 기울이고 있다. 독서골든벨, 작가와의 만남, 교과체험의 날, 관저수학잔치 등이 펼쳐지는 ‘꿈과 끼 탐색주간’을 운영해 학생들이 학습에 흥미를 가짐과 동시에 다양한 진로를 탐색할 수 있도록 하고 있으며, ‘마중물 프로그램’을 통해 학생들의 다양한 학습 욕구를 만족시키기 위한 맞춤형 수업과 폭넓은 진로선택을 도울 수 있는 체육 계열 중심의 진로집중 교육과정, 야간심화선택수업, 통합 논술반 운영 등을 운영하고 있다. 그밖에도 학생들의 문제해결능력 및 자기주도적 학습능력 신장을 위한 목표관리제를 시행하고 우수학생에 대한 시상을 진행하는 등 학교 교육활동에 적극적으로 참여하는 학생들에게 격려와 학습능력 향상의 기회를 제공하고 있다. 학생들이 스스로의 능력을 기르고, 올바른 인성을 배워가는 학교. 지·덕·체가 균형을 이루는 전인교육으로 학생 및 학부모와 소통하면서 학생이 행복한, 학부모가 신뢰하는 학교로 자리매김하고 있는 관저고등학교의 앞으로를 기대해보자.

Practical personality education to promote warm sensibility
Under the slogan of ‘Educational Community for Vision, Love and Happiness’, teachers and students of Daejeon Gwanjeo High School are working together. Alongside emphasizing on the slogan, Principal Choi is exerting his utmost effort in creating a highly beloved school by students. Choi also has been leading the development of regional education in Daejeon City. Choi says “Self-directed personality education is more important than teacher-directed and we are providing unsparing support for it.” ‘Agreeable Friends Campaign’, for example, encourages students to be aware of the seriousness of using violent languages. The campaign leads students to appropriate use of language through ‘Resolution Text Presentation’, ‘Agreeable Band Support’ and ‘Implementation Tasks of Each Class. ‘Our Best Teachers’ managed by student union, on the other hand, is promoting friendship between students and teachers. In addition, the school holds ‘Flowery Village Voluntary Service’ to connect students with residents and each class contains a 5 minute presentation of decorum to encourage its importance. 

Self-directed learning and practice to create a harmonious school
The advantage of Daejeon Gwanjeo High School is that students make and practice rules and organize various events. ‘Independent Law Court of Student’, for example, holds a discussion for rules and disciplinary so that the students with accumulated penalty points can improve their behavior. Principal Choi says “Everybody can join the law court. Through this, students can have a chance to experience Solomon Law Park in Daejoen which fosters problem solving capabilities and a sense of independence and responsibility.” As a result, Gwanjeo High School won Director’s Prize from Daejeon Public Prosecutors' Office at ‘The 2nd Excellent Cases of Independent Law Court of Student’. Meanwhile, Principal Choi and teachers are helping students find their right career path through various curriculum activities. ‘Promotional Week of Dream and Talent’ is a good example to boost students’ interest in learning and career path through sub-programms such as ‘Reading Golden Bell’, ‘Meeting with Author’, ‘Curriculum Experience Day’ and ‘Maths Competition’. ‘Face to Face Programm’, on the other hand, provides customized lessons through ‘Sport-related Career Path Course’, ‘Intensive Night Course’ and ‘Comprehensive Essay Course’. The school is also carrying out ‘Target Management’ in order to promote problem solving capabilities and self-directed learning and awarding prizes for excellent students.
