“Prevention is more important than treatment”
Cervical cancer has become a common cancer to visit a woman today. Unlike in the past, women in their 20s and 30s are no exception. It is the second most common cancer among women in the world with about 80% occurring in Asia, Latin America and Africa according to a report. The cancer is closely related to human papilloma virus but it naturally disappears in 70% to 80% cases within a year or two from the point of outbreak. However, as it can easily be spread in daily life, the government provides free checkup for women aged above 20 on a two yearly basis. Kim emphasizes on the importance of prevention and advises “Avoid both direct and indirect smoking and eat a balanced diet. Regular checkup is also necessary especially one of your family members has a history”

Korean women still feel reluctant to pay a visit to obstetrics due to social prejudice and the fear of male doctors. Director Kim, as a female doctor, knows this very well and has created a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere in the clinic.
