Planting nature in the city
The interior that embraces art and life
CEO Ryu Jwa-yeon of BaumArt
Turning indoor space into a forest
We all love flowers and plants. But we get rather confused when it comes to where to put in house or office if we buy one or two. The interior concept of CEO Ryu Jwa-yeon of BaumArt came from this using nature to fill up the space. He made a strong impression with his apricot tree gardening at Kyunghwang Housing Fair 2016 and diversified the way we use artificial trees for decoration. Ryu borrowed a German word 'baum (tree)' to combine it with 'art' and thus established 'BaumArt'. BaumArt uses eco-friendly materials as well as objects like installation art pieces. Ryu livens up the details of the installation with hand made petals and flowers and resembles parts to set up a large apricot, cherry blossom, zelkova or olive tree in a space. He can improvise the wall into various shapes and rotation with objects such as ivory, bamboo, arched rose, pakoras and vine swings, according to each purpose of the space. "Interior for me is not to put things here and there but harmonizing the space with its purpose and esthetic value" explains Ryu.
'Jayeoni (nature)' brings nature to your space
BaumArt is specialized in tree. CEO Ryu mass purchases garden trees and dries them up with steam which prevents bacteria from growing. For this reason, BaumArt is rising as one of the best performers among 50 tree-specialized interior firms nationwide. But what makes BaumArt even more popular comes from the patented sophisticated urban flowerpot 'Jayeoni (nature)'. It is made of ABS eco-friendly materials and it brightens up the atmosphere of a space with its easy movability. It appeared on numerous TV dramas and you can stick it on window frame, partition or table. It is also loaded with drainage system. Its cham and convenience is highly expected to attract plant lover's attention.
Pioneering overseas market
BaumArt has already received business calls from Toronto and New York but the custom issues are the obstacle to overcome: logs are not allowed to enter Canada, Japan and the US yet. Never giving up, CEO Ryu is planning to build a design center in order to systematize over all gardening process in preparation to pioneer oversea market. Ryu already has patents for a holding method and a tree design and BaumArt does not require any payment before the work is done and satisfied by the client. Also, all the products of BaumArt are made to order and a thorough analysis on layout and planning of the space is carried out before production and installation. Ryu finds inspiration from many objects in life such as street trees or unknown flowers on the corner of a road. When asked about future plan, Ryu said "I would like to share my knowledge, knowhow and experience in the field with people so that they can create their space with their own ideas and preference. For now, I hope that the spaces I designed will give people a peaceful and healing time."
