SEOUL FOOD in Bangkok opens
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA will hold SEOUL FOOD in Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand in October. Seoul Food, Korea's largest food exhibition, was held from June 11 to 14 this year, with 1,605 companies from 51 countries participating, 53,000 visitors, and a total of $240 million worth of export consultations. SEOUL FOOD in Bangkok will be held at ICON Siam, Bangkok's largest tourist attraction, from October 18 to November 3, and more than 300 buyers are expected to participate. Last May, KOTRA signed an MOU with Korean advertising company Innocean for Seoul Food's overseas expansion. Innocean has signed a strategic business agreement with ‘Siam Piwat Group’, which owns major distribution networks in Thailand, including Icon Siam. KOTRA plans to strengthen marketing strategy so that Seoul Food can be promoted through various channels in the local market by utilizing Innocean's local network in Thailand and K-content operation experience. “K-food exports reached an all-time high of $12.1 billion last year and have been on an upward trend for eight consecutive years. Through this exhibition, we plan to actively support K-food so that it can contribute to achieving $700 billion in exports this year” said KOTRA.
Korean booth pitches up at Milano Unica 2024
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA operated the Korean pavilion at Milano Unica 2024. Thirty domestic companies in the textile and fashion sectors participated in the Korean Pavilion, which was prepared in conjunction with the Korea Textile Import and Export Association. In line with global trends, they are actively targeting the European premium market with a focus on eco-friendly, functional, and natural products. Only companies that passed strict screening can participate in this exhibition, and in Asia, only Korea and Japan had the opportunity to participate. 80% of the exhibitors are Italian companies. A Korean participating company that holds various international certifications such as Global Recycling Standard (GRS) and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) conducted on-site consultations with a local agent that owns seven brands in Europe. As utilizing local agents is essential for successful business in the Italian fashion market, KOTRA invited major Italian textile agents to provide practical information.
