Kim Su-han, chairman of the Sancheong County Council, said, “I will work to ensure that the Sancheong County Council can carry out legislative activities focused on maximizing its function and role as a representative body of the residents.”

Fairness and transparency

“I have studied a lot about the role of the council in the past eight years. Based on those experiences, I was elected by the people and re-elected to the ninth council and served as the vice chairman for the first half of the year. In the second half, I have a great sense of responsibility and gratitude as the chairman. As the Sancheong County Council is the watchdog of the entire administration and the representative body of the county’s citizens, I will do my best to improve the quality of life of the county’s citizens and create the county where everyone can be happy” says Kim. He served as the head of the Sancheong-gun Donguibogam Village Entrepreneurs’ Cooperative, the 7th chairman of the Gyeongnam Venture Agriculture Association, and a director of the Sancheong-gun Local Scholarship Association, and was elected to the 8th Sancheong-gun Council. He is currently serving as a member of the Sancheong County Crime Victim Support Center, Jinju Branch, Changwon District Prosecutors’ Office and a member of the Sancheong Court Mediation Committee, Jinju Branch, Changwon District Court. In order to take the lead in fostering local talent, he has been donating 10 million won to the Sancheong-gun Local Scholarship Association since 2011, and while serving as an executive from 2011 to 2015, he also worked to improve the local education environment and expand the scholarship program. “Sancheong-gun is forming the image of the region with themes such as oriental medicine, medicinal herbs, healing, and wellness, and the image of clean Sancheong is known domestically and internationally, and not only the agricultural and livestock industries, general industries, and tourism industries promoted by the county, but also all industries in regional development are promoted with cleanliness and healing in mind. Accordingly, attracting factories is necessary for regional development or revitalization of the local economy, but the executive agency must carefully consider what the county residents truly want and what decisions are necessary for the image of the region.” 

Development of Sancheong-gun and happiness of its residents

“I will strive to ensure that Sancheong County Council can carry out legislative activities that focus on maximizing its functions and roles as a representative body of residents. I will faithfully fulfill the original functions and duties of the council by providing overall supervision and checks on the executive branch and healthy alternatives, and I will also take care of even the smallest complaints of residents. I will make Sancheong County Council a council that is more trustworthy to residents through active communication with the executive branch” says Kim. “The most urgent issue for Sancheong County is the population. As we enter a super-aging society, the number of deaths is much higher than the number of births, which is a serious situation. Priority should be given to welfare facilities and infrastructure construction, and realistic alternatives should be presented, such as active support for the population returning to farming and rural areas and increasing childbirth expenses. In addition, if we develop a market for agricultural and marine products produced in Sancheong County, the economy of Sancheong will be revived and and the number of children born will naturally increase.”
