Hamyang County embraces 15 mountains with peaks more than 1,000 meters. Naturally, medicinal hubs have been growing and respective industry has been well established. The country especially has focused on wild ginseng which is high quality thanks to the germanium soil in the region. Making the most of these advantages is the Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival. 

The 19th Hamyang Wild Ginseng Festival

The festival was started to revisit the forgotten history and meaning of wild ginseng and simmani (ginseng digger), and to foster the Hallyu culture with K-ginseng in the world. The festival, now in its 19th year, will be held for seven days from October 3 to October 9 with the slogan ‘Attracted by Hamyang, Indulged in Wild Ginseng’. Visitors can join the games such as finding wild ginseng and digging wild ginseng and can also buy products. Visitors are highly recommended to try local pork and other local specialties alongside ginseng. 

Fun programs

There is a Family Zone, a spacious shelter for visitors, and a Pet Zone for tourists who come to the festival with their dogs, as well as an agricultural specialty sales area where you can buy high-quality and affordable products. In addition, there are food zones and food trucks where you can enjoy local specialties including snacks and drinks, and a photo zone with beautiful landscape lighting to capture memories. It will be a festival that provides health, healing, and fun at the same time through various fun, interesting, and colorful events including sword fighting, magic shows, and the Dongchun Circus. The festival will be held in conjunction with various events such as children’s painting contest and barefoot walking.
