The Korea Magazine Association held the 59th convention on February 17 at the KBIZ hall in Yeouido, Seoul. In accordance with the government quarantine guidelines, the event was organized in written forms on the agendas of the end-of-the year account balance and the business plans and budget for the year 2021. The convention took place alongside choosing the 44th president and audit inspectors.

Prior to the election, the association's senior vice president Sung Ki-myung and a director of the board Baek Jong-woon sat down face to face at the open election debate held on February 8 at the association office. Baek, who pledged more rewards, elevated status of rewards and revision of reward and punishment regulation, was chosen as the 44th president alongside Kim Jin-gu (President of Jeonbuk Press Culture Center) and Kim Byeong-hoon (President of Happy Family Culture Center) as the newly elected audit inspectors. Their term starts from March 1, 2021 and lasts until February 28, 2023.

"I never expected this much support and I feel truly overwhelmed. I take it as to do my very best and I will do my very best to open a new chapter for Korean magazine industry" said Baek in his thanks speech.

Baek majored in law at Korea University, served as a 39th member of the magazine research committee, a 41st and 43rd board director of the association, and currently is the publisher of Good Morning Pops and CEO of Korea Broadcasting Publishing.

January 21, 2020, the Korean Magazine Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sejong Cyber University for professional manpower training through active exchanges. Members and their families of the Korean Magazine Association can receive 30% discount on tuition fees either in degree and graduate course.
