Chung visits India to check business feasibility
Following his visit to India August last year, Euisun Chung, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, revisited this year to check business feasibility in this emerging market. India’s car market is estimated around 5 million vehicles, 3rd in number, after China and the United States. The number is expected to be more than 5 million by 2030 with passenger vehicle alone around 4.1 million as of this year. The Indian government goals to increase sales of EV to 30% by 2030 and offer only 15% tariff from 100% for those who invest 500 million dollars and start to produce EV within 3 years in India. Hyundai knocked the market 30 years ago and is running a mid and long term business strategy targeting the year 2030. Briefed by the Hyundai local staff in Haryana and Gurgaon, Chung shared his vision to produce 1 million vehicles in India.
