According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, as of the end of June 2024, the total number of domestically registered automobiles was 26,134,000. This is one automobile per two people (1.96 people). People can now easily purchase automobile supplies online and offline, and many automobile supplies are flooding the market. COSMEDICINE (CEO Jeong Ju-young) is attracting attention by introducing an all in one automotive care under its own brand The Class. 

 

Doing what I am best comes with expertise

“I grew up playing with cars thanks to my parents. I loved assembling the car parts and wash it together with my father. It makes me feel good when the dirty car became shiny after the cleaning.” says Jeong. However, against his beloved hobby, he majored in English which he soon lost interest. He then went through various jobs including insurance planner and office assistant in Seoul during which his debt piled up to 15 million won. Packing up after one year of living in Seoul, he headed back to his hometown, back to college, earned 5 million won money prize with a smartphone case idea which did not lead to a business. “I met a mentor during that competition in the college and he said to me to do what I am best. So I thought of it for a while and found out that I’m second to none when it comes to car wash.”

 

From a small office to 20 billion won in revenue

Having secured 50 million won seed money, he developed Hybrid Coat and officially launched The Class on October 2016. “I only sold 100,000 won and my seed money was drying up. So I put up an add on a YouTube channel and sold 8 million won on the first day of the add and 20 million won in total. Since then the business went up and down with some of the issues I didn’t know but sales grew steadily.” 

 

Built on trust and quality: The Class

The Class has now grown to supplies more than 100 kinds car parts and household chemicals. “We run our own research team and automated production facility. We have obtained more than 400 safety and performance certificates from related organizations. Some of the best sellers include exterior care products (polish, coating, cleaning), interior care products (polish, coating, cleaning, dental fresheners), wheels & tires, glass care, engine care, towels, and car wash tools. “Our exterior care products have a great cleaning power and look great, which is why they’re so popular among 20- and 30-somethings.” The products are being sold on/offline stored including Daiso, Coupang, Homeplus and emart and exported to Japan, Thailand, Czech, Germany and Taiwan. Since 2022, the products have been displayed in a booth at Semashow, US. Jeong goals to export the products to around 100 countries in 3 to 4 years.

 

Helping people in need

He has been donating 5 million won scholarship every year for local human resource alongside helping people in need.
